Corpus Christi is a city in the southern United States located on Texas' Gulf Coast. It's known for its beaches and seafood - it has some of the best oysters you'll find anywhere!
The city is home to the northern part of Padre Island, a barrier island that's one of the longest in the world, and Mustang Island, where you can meet with turtles from The Bay. Public beaches are available for everyone here too!
Central location in south Texas means that the weather here is perfect for those who want warm weather year-round and enjoy being a beach bum more than anything else on Earth. Summers are hot and humid, and winters are mild with windy days; coolness can be felt throughout the city except on sunny days when it feels like summer again. However, this does not often occur because our Gulf currents keep us at bay from frigid temperatures.
The Gulf of Mexico is one of many options for fishing locally or from the beach - be sure that you check out current weather conditions, wear sunscreen (even on cloudy days), and drink plenty of water.
The main highway that serves this coastal destination is Interstate 37, which runs through its heart, while I-35 on the east side provides easy access for those traveling from San Antonio or Austin. In addition to these three interstates, several state routes also pass near Corpus Christi, making travel convenient regardless of your location within Texas.
The city of Corpus Christi is home to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and several universities. It's divided into five school districts, including Del Mare College, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School, and other schools from primary education through high school.
